Program Jeep Summer Tires with Autel MaxiTPMS PAD

 Spring is coming and it’s time to replace a set of summer wheels. This is a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 (WK2). The programming procedure can be applied to other models.

Back in the summer, I bought myself a new set of tires. The tires on which I bought the car were already worn out, cracked, etc. Last season I decided to ride on it, and for this summer to change tires. Both old and new tires are the same Pirelli Scorpion Verde runflat 295 45 20. I don’t want to leave the runflat, even though it is heavier.

Initially, there were no sensors in the summer wheels, I think they were stolen from the previous owner during painting and ordinary valves were installed.
The Chinese sensors in the winter kit showed themselves perfectly, they registered themselves, they didn’t give a single error for the whole winter. So I decided to repeat the experiment.
On Aliexpress , another set was ordered at number 56029398AB.

Then i ordered the Autel MaxiTPMS pad.

The main task of the device is to make clones of original sensors on any car from Autel sensors, but it also has the function of checking any sensors, this was the main point, to check Chinese sensors before installation. It also often happens that the id number written on the sensor does not match the number registered in the sensor, and if it is necessary to register the sensors manually, this will be a problem.

We put the program on the computer

Choose a car brand, choose the year of release

You can use the original sensor number

We press check, we hear peak-peak-peak and blinking of a green light and see on the screen

Just in case, I wrote down the ID numbers on the sensors.

I also prepared reciprocal stickers in order to stick them on the disks from the inside, so that during installation you can understand where which sensor is, again, if you have to prescribe it manually.

I went to the tavern and threw the rubber, inserting sensors.

In general, the jeep is waiting for the installation of the summer, let’s see how the sensors register. There were no problems with winter roads, they registered immediately, they never failed during the winter.

By the way, another feature of the Autel TPMS PAD is the ability to read the sensor on the assembled wheel.

Program 2018 Toyota Tacoma TPMS by Autel MX Sensor

 Some asked: is there a TPMS sensor in the spare on 2018 Toyota Tacoma?

 

The answer is: No… turd gens only have 4 slots of memory for tpms numbers… you have to get a tpms installed in the spare and either 1.) Get a shop or dealer to program tpms locations if you rotate the spare in 2.) Buy a programmer to do it yourself (what i did) or 3.) you dont rotate your spare and be comfortable not knowing what the psi is…

So, I used the Autel TS508 tool… Found out the tool only reprograms AUTEL MX-TPMS‘s… but will read/write any “OEM” sensor… Programming IS needed BUT it is recognized as OEM by the Autel TS508…. I “relearned” all the tire positions by scanning all the tpm’s… new auto part store tpm included… and boom… TS508 read/rewrote all scanned sensors… Truck is 100% good and tire pressure displayed after a few dozen yards of movement lol

I’m going to install the MX-TPMS, I can clone / program it with the TS508 and every tire rotation just “relearn” positions… less than 5mins to do the “programming”.

Okay fellas….

Truck never threw a TPMS light but the pressures never appeared on the dash… I drove a lot this morning….

I said screw it and I used my tool and “relearned” positions, it all worked… more importantly, proved the MX sensor is read and recognized by the truck/ECU

Currently I have two NON-OEM sensors on the truck and my tool was able to write the ID’s to the ECU without a problem. One TPMS is from Orielly’s Auto Parts and the tool was able to write that one no problem…. the MX-TPMS needed programming since it is a universal tpms…. the tool was able to do that no problem.

Verdict?!

Tacomas only have 4 slots of TPMS memory…. programming the 5th will NOT allow you to “relearn” tires after full spare rotation by simply using the tpms button on dash…. sorry

While the tools require you to scan a 5th (Spare) TPMS and the ECU “learns” 5 sensors…. when you extract the info, it only calls out 4 slots of memory…. I can’t explain it and it really doesn’t matter to me anymore…. I have the tool and it is exactly doing what I need it to do.

if you guys want to save money, I highly recommend the Autel TS508…. in retrospect, I would have paid the additional $250 for the All-in-one tool to read Engine trouble codes and diagnostics, but I’m okay with keeping my bosh for the motor and this for the tpms.

 

it really is that easy to relearn all your tires.

Mercedes 2012 E350 convertible TPMS Relearn with Autel

I changed the wheels on my new to me 2012 E350 convertible. I went with aftermarket wheels. During the process I decided to just go with a new set of TPMS sensors.
Immediately after driving the car away from the tire shop I noticed my TPMS was not working as I thought it would. Constant yellow tire light and “tire pressure system inoperative”.

TPMS I purchased was Autel MX-sensor from obdii365.com for about $120 (set of 4).

You’ll need to purchase a TPMS programmer, I got mine from Autel and it covers almost all sensors including OEM.

For reference TPMS out of the box are not programmed at all and need this In order for a vehicle to recognize it.

Here are the steps that worked with no problem.

1. Deflate tires completely flat.
2. Get your Autel MaxiTPMS TS401 and turn it on.
3. Find your make, model, year, sub model.
4. Press and hold Y
5. Select auto create
6. Press and hold Y again and go to the front right wheel, hold the device near the stem, and within seconds you’ll here a chime on the device meaning it’s been recognized.
7. Press and hold Y again and do the remaining 3 wheels.
8. Once you complete this process back out to where you original chose car.
9. Press and hold center button that looks like a wifi but symbol.
10. Machine promotes you which wheel to start with.
11. Again, once machine finds TPMS when held near stem the device chimes. Press and hold the symbol again and repeat until complete.
12. Once officially complete you’ll have a list of all 4 sensors you scanned and activated.
13. Re-Inflate tires.
14. Go for a ride. TPMS may still say inoperative. After driving for a few miles and nothing happens, pull over, turnoff car. Restart and drive again, tire light should start flashing and within minutes your pressures should appear on the screen.

Autel TS508 Program Chrysler SGW TPMS

 How to use Autel TS508 to Program Chrysler SGW TPMS Sensors?

Automobile manufacturers are developing solutions to protect their vehicles' networks from unauthorized access, including potential cyber-attacks. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) recently implemented a secure gateway module that was introduced on a selection of their 2018 and newer model vehicles. For those vehicles with the secure gateway module, access to certain diagnostic functions requires registration and authentication through an approved device for all aftermarket scan tools. Because of the sure gateway module, it is not possible to write new TPMS sensor ID's to the TPMS module.

To install new Autel 1-Sensors on a Chrysler product equipped with an SGM follow these 6 simple steps using the Autel MaxiTPMS TS508.

1.Make sure TS508 or TS508WF has the latest update
2.Use Advanced mode to select your year make and model
3.Select Option 2: Program Sensor
4.Select Option 1: Copy by OBDB
5.Program each sensor, one-at-a-time, make sure each programmed sensor in installed in the proper wheel position.
6.Service is complete

By using the Copy by OBD programming method we are using the information that is already stored in the car's computer. We are not introducing new sensor ID's and therefore eliminating the need for a relearn. We are simply providing the sensor information that the cars computer is looking for.

El-50448 Reprogram 2019 Chevy Impala TPMS sensors

 Hi, I’m going to be doing a demo and a quick review of this Augocom El-50448 TPMS relearn tool, so this will work for GM vehicles that are approximately 2011 and newer and I’ll be doing this procedure on my 2019 Chevy impala.

 

So the way these cars work every time you change tires or change TPMS sensors, you have to do a re-learn and you do require an external tool. On some of the older cars, I think there was some sort of memory, but on the newer cars, you’ve got to use a tool.

 

I bought this El-50448 from China and there’s a number of identical looking units, I’d actually originally bought a different identical one but it didn’t work, so I returned it and bought this one, this has got some branding on it “Augocom”, this one works really well I did it when I put on my snow tires.

 

So anyways I’ve just taken off my snow tires and put my all sensors back on, so we’ll do a bit of a demo.

So, another thing which is kind of cool about this El-50448 that the other one I got didn’t have is a little manual it’s not really required, but you know.

 

So the tool itself is pretty small, it’s got a nice little cover on it and it’s powered with I believe it is a single 9 volt battery which is not included.

 

And it comes with just a single button. And even though it looks like you should just be touching it, and then letting go. What I found is you actually have to be holding the button until each tire learns.

So, before I start I’m just gonna turn on the car just so that you can see that nothing’s programmed right now, so there’s a service tire pressure monitor system warning and you can see that there are no pressures shown. So I’m just going to turn that off.

 

And let’s enter learning mode, so in my 2019 Chevy Impala and I’m assuming many similar GMs to do that. All you have to do is hold the start / stop button for five seconds.

but do not press down the brake during this time.

                                

So now it goes into this diagnostic mode and just a couple other things to point out when I had the other sensor that didn’t work I was trying to troubleshoot. Some people were saying that you want the wheels to be facing relatively straight for it to work, so that’s just a tip I guess and the other thing is I put my key fob in the car so that when I go out to do the re-learn, the car isn’t confused that the key fob is gone I don’t really know if that’s required but I figure I might as well.

So now we’re in here and all I’m going to do is hold the check Mark until it goes into re-learn mode.  So now we’re doing tire learning and we’ve got to start with the front left (tire), so you just put this right beside the valve stem and hold until the car beep.

Then we’re gonna go to the front right tire and same deal.

so you can see, it’s not consistent timing, sometimes you have to hold it for a little while before it registers.

 

Then the rear right, and then the last is the rear left. Okay, and so those last two beeps.

 

We’re just saying that it was successful and if I get in the car I can see that I’m getting readings.

Now to finish everything, we can just hit the stop / start button.

 

And then we should be good to go. So I’m just gonna start the car.

And we can see the tire pressures are all shown there and I’m just gonna shut it off because I’m inside the garage and that’s all you have to do.

 

Now one last thing I just want to mention no matter what brand you get, make sure you put this Augocom El-50448 somewhere that you can find it. It’s fairly small and it took me an embarrassing amount of time to find before making this demo and review.

Autel TS508 Review on Subaru Crosstrek

I just picked up the Autel MaxiTPMS TS508. probably similar in operation, although the TS408 does not have an OBDII port/cable for relearning like the 508, which worked fine to relearn my Method wheels on my 2019 Limited with AUZONE Pro-sensors (same as OEM). Be sure to check Autel website for Firmware updates. You simply scan the sensors, and then download to the ECM with the OBDII cable included after installing and/or rotating. I believe only option with the 408 is to clone OEM sensors to Autel MX sensors.

Recently switched to Method 502 wheels and BFG AT KO2's in LT215/75-15 size.

Purchased from obdii365.com along with TPMS sensors and was able to use the TS508 without issue. The sensors provided are AUZONE pro-sensors (433Mhz) type and are equivalent to Subaru OEM sensors.

Prior to programming I updated the tool firmware from Autel's support site.
I used the Relearn function and simply scanned the sensors in sequence from LF, RF, RR, LR and then write the sensor ID's to the ECM using the OBDII cable included. It then verifies the sensor ID's and positions match the vehicle ECM, and clears the DTC codes and TPMS light. 

After driving about 5 or 6 miles the DIC was displaying pressures properly, as I'm running my BFG's at 42 front and 40 rear.

Not sure if relearning is necessary at tire rotation or if the positions will update automatically but I'll find out in 3000 miles when I rotate.

If you go with Autel MX sensors you can simply clone your OEM sensors to run two sets of wheels without relearning at each tire swap.

Autel MX-Sensor and Range Rover TPMS Module Review

Background:

The car has a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and 5 sensors (4 wheels + spare). In October, messages about pressure testing in all tires began to appear on the dashboard with the indicator on fire, then these messages disappeared and the indicator went out. Reading errors through SDD did not give a result (no errors). The system is extremely simple 4 antennas and 1 unit (located in the rear right sidewall). Having called the antenna to break the short circuit, I found out that everything is fine with them. The block itself remained in question. After conducting a study (a series of tests to check the performance), it turned out that the unit responds to a decrease in pressure in the wheels but forgets these values. After opening the unit, he discovered that he turned green, cleaned it, put it in its place … the module’s working capacity did not return.

Decided to buy a new module. Winter came to the car set new wheels with new sensors.

Autel Universal Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors

Changed new module in places, diagnosed using SDD (read module, initialized new unit). When the unit was initialized, the program asked either to enter the 8-digit codes of all 5 wheels or drive for 15 minutes and then install the spare wheel instead of standing on the car. For me it seemed difficult, so I started the auto display, there are no messages, I was glad and went home. After 15 minutes of movement, a system failure message popped up, after reading the errors, found that there was no response from all 4 new AUTEL MX-sensors. It turns out the sensors are sold asleep and are programmed for a specific make model and year of the car at atmospheric pressure (if installed on the car, it should be lowered). It is necessary to find a person with a device for programming or buy a Autel MaxiTPMS pad to program by yourself.

and dropping an error module TPMS went home with the confidence that I would have to plug in a computer and prescribe sensor numbers manually, since I did not want to engage in shamanism with a spare wheel. BUT … a miracle happened and the system picked up all the sensors and after 40 minutes the system did not fail. Now on the tidy does not annoy me amber flat tire icon.
